Second Sample Run Flooding Photos

It is not known if Sample Run also flooded during the years that Clymer flooded, but it's probable. When Hurricane Agnes brought in heavy rains during June 1972, Second Sample Run flooded. And during late spring or early summer of 1977, Second Sample Run flooded again. As a result, lower Second Sample Run was declared to be a Federal Flood Zone and people had to move out. Those who had mobile homes were able to move them; however, the old houses were torn down and the rubble was hauled away. Here are some photos of the Sample Run floods.  Writing on the photos indicates that Hines Street was flooded, which is just off Route 286.

The writing on the above photo reads: "Sample Run Flood - 1977. Pictures taken from a row boat. Steve Burke towing a boat. (Burke, from Eastern PA, was a music major at IUP and apprenticed with John Shingledecker building guitars.) Cars belonged to John Misko."
