CLYMER CIVIC ASSOCIATION Annual Letter, Fall 2006 to Fall 2007
Dear Members and Prospective Members,
It has been one year since our group came together. It is now time to elect
officers, review our accomplishments and our plans for the coming year and
collect annual membership contributions.
Clymer Civic Association has a membership of 30 businesses. We have meetings the
third Thursday of each month at the American Legion at 8 :30am. This first year
besides just getting organized, agreeing on and writing by-laws, and electing
officers the group has completed the following projects:
· Christmas banners stretching across route 286 welcoming folks to Clymer.
· Obtained an Indiana County Endowment Grant and used the money to put six waste
cans on
Franklin Street.
· Provided trophies for the Ed Lucas Fishing Derby. (These were for the
children.)
· Clean Up Clymer Day was held in May. This was in cooperation with PA Cleanways.
· Donation contributed to help provide safe parking at the Little League Field
In addition to these projects the membership participated in many meetings and
seminars, as well as hosted some informative speakers at our meetings. These
include:
· Attending the annual Chamber of Commerce Luncheon
· Attending the Community Brainstorming & Ideation Session hosted by the Indiana
Tourist
Bureau
· Attending the Welcome to Indiana Luncheon
· Hosting The Indiana County Office of Planning and Development, Leann Chaney,
speaker
· Hosting Welcome to Indiana, Nancy Beirworth, speaker
What is in the works?
· "Welcome to Clymer" Signs. Some bids have been presented and will be reviewed
at the next meeting. We are hoping to have one sign up by Christmas.
· Choral Sing and Caroling in downtown Clymer with the Penns Manor School Choir.
If you would like to participate please meet at the Clymer American Legion at
6:00pm on Sunday, December 16. Hot chocolate will be served after the sing.
· Next meeting: Thursday, November 15, 8:30am, American Legion.
It has been a great start. Many hours have been spent by the members to get the
group started and to accomplish what has been done. This is a wonderful group of
folks to work with and it has been fun getting to know everyone. If you are not
a member please consider joining and helping us and if you are a member thank
you for you time and efforts this year and remember membership contributions are
due by November 30.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Drozdiak Recording Secretary
